Project Objectives

The main objective of the project is the development of a medical diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of illnesses in children suffering from acute abdominal pain. An important advantage of this diagnostic tool is that its diagnoses will be complemented with confidence measures, which will give the user the ability to evaluate the degree to which he can rely on each diagnosis. This will increase the reliability of the diagnoses produced for each patient to a big degree, thing that is extremely important in medical diagnosis.

The most important scientific and technological objectives of the project are:

  1. The development of novel pattern recognition models based on the algorithmic theory of randomness
  2. The application of the developed models for the diagnosis of illnesses in children with acute abdominal pain
